The Pueblo Food Project (PFP) is a community-led coalition and organization working to create a more vibrant, equitable and nutritious food system for every eater in Pueblo. Pueblo Food Project’s work encompasses many different parts of the food system, including gardening and cooking education, youth empowerment, healthy food access, and food and agriculture entrepreneurship.
Pueblo Food Project is a small but mighty organization with a full time staff of two and four part-time contractors who support our programming. We are seeking a candidate who is adaptable, curious, and willing to learn new skills to add to our dynamic team. Passion for community food systems is a must.
What you’ll be doing
As an intern, you will be tasked with various duties to support the Pueblo Food Project’s mission and work. This includes:
- planning and executing events (farmers markets, cooking classes, gardening events, youth council meetings/field trips, community outreach events, etc.)
- collaborating with local organizations
- creating digital and print materials
- attending meetings
- being present at PFP events to assist where needed.
An example that illustrates duties of this position would include planning a community service activity with the youth council, creating a flier, sharing event details to the youth council and the public, picking up supplies, planning materials and being present for the facilitation of the event.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic technical skills; proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Activity and meeting planning and implementation
- Engaged, present listener
- Highly organized
- Adaptable in a high-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education and/or experience working in community-based organizations, food systems, and/or diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Leadership experience
- Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
Compensation:
$18-22/hour depending on experience
This is a part-time position with 10-20 hours per week starting August 2024 through December 2024 with opportunities to extend based on performance.
