What is Food & Farm Literacy & Education 

The strategies put forth by the food and farm literacy and education working group will build in inclusivity; for example when appropriate activities will foster multigenerational participation.   Programs will be inclusive of all skill levels, and available at no, little, or at cost.  Location of activities organized by Pueblo Food Project will be accessible by public transportation.  Resources will be available in multiple languages.  PFP learning opportunities will be broadcast widely, targeting a variety of audiences.  Activity leaders will represent all the different facets of the Pueblo Community.

Vision

The Food and Farm Literacy and Education Working Group serves as a resource hub and pathway for the community to gain intimate awareness,  knowledge, and skills, of our farm and food systems to the well being of ourselves, our community, and our planet. 

Purpose

The Food and Farm Literacy and Education Working Group creates and promotes opportunities for community members to be conscientious active participants in the Pueblo food system that produce and consume healthy local foods.

Activities

  • Develop, share, and maintain an asset map of existing food and farm literacy and education opportunities in Pueblo County, and promote partner programs as appropriate.
  • Create an advocacy plan to more formally integrated food and farm literacy and education more in D60 and D70 schools
  • Revitalize the city greenhouse in Mineral Palace park to serve as community center and learning hub for food and farm literacy and education
